Anna Tran, M.A., LPC-Associate · Therapist based in Houston, Texas
my story
My path to becoming a Therapist has been shaped by different chapters of my life, each one teaching me something about people, change, and the importance of human connection.
My interest in understanding people began with studying Psychology and eventually led me to earn my Master’s degree in Counseling. Early in my career, I had the opportunity to work with individuals navigating rehabilitation, education, vocational challenges, and significant life transitions. Those experiences taught me that growth rarely follows a predictable timeline and that sometimes simply having someone who listens, understands, and meets you where you are can make a meaningful difference.
Then, life took me in an unexpected direction.
I stepped away from the Mental Health field and pursued another dream: becoming a Flight Attendant. For seven years, aviation gave me the opportunity to travel, experience different cultures, and connect with people from nearly every walk of life. It strengthened my adaptability, communication skills, and ability to meet people with empathy, whether they were excited about where they were going, anxious about the journey, or simply needed someone to listen.
When that chapter of my life came to an unexpected close, I found myself facing the same kinds of questions many people encounter during periods of transition: What comes next? Who am I outside of the life and career I knew? And what do I want this next chapter to look like?
Those questions ultimately brought me back to Counseling.
Returning to this work has felt less like starting over and more like coming full circle. The experiences I’ve had inside and outside of the counseling profession have shaped how I understand change, uncertainty, identity, resilience, and the many ways our lives can evolve.
Today, as an LPC-Associate, I bring those experiences into the therapy room while recognizing that every person’s story is uniquely their own. I believe therapy should be a place where you can show up authentically, explore what you’ve been carrying, and feel genuinely heard without judgment.
For me, catharsis represents the release and clarity that can come when we finally give ourselves space to express what has been difficult to hold. That idea is at the heart of my work and the inspiration behind The Catharsis Collective.
You don’t need to have everything figured out before beginning therapy. Sometimes, the beginning is simply having a space to tell your story.
I’m here to listen.
“My path has taken a few turns, but each one has brought me closer to where I’m meant to be.”
my approach
I believe meaningful change begins when people feel genuinely understood. My approach is warm, collaborative, and strengths-based — I strive to help individuals recognize their resilience, develop practical tools, and move toward lives that feel more authentic and purposeful.
In our work together, I draw on Solution-Focused and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) approaches, always tailored to your goals and what feels right for you.
